Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression

PMVA Training

PMVA training ensures our staff are equipped with the skills to prevent, de-escalate, and safely manage challenging situations while protecting the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of everyone involved.

Our Commitment

Purpose of the Training

We provide Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training to staff whose roles may involve managing challenging behaviour or responding to incidents of aggression. This training forms a core part of our safeguarding, risk management, and workforce safety framework.

01.

To ensure safety

The primary purpose is to keep staff, service users, and the public safe by reducing the risk of harm.

02.

To prevent violent incidents

PMVA helps staff identify early warning signs and take action before situations become aggressive.

03.

To build staff confidence

Training increases confidence in handling challenging behaviour without panic or fear.

04.

To reduce use of force

The focus is on non-physical methods first, using physical intervention only as a last resort.

Compliance & Governance

PMVA training is aligned with nationally recognised standards and is regularly refreshed. All certificates and competency records are retained within staff training and compliance files and reviewed as part of our quality governance process.
